Exclamation Linking Workbooks in Excel

hey, i am currently trying to do some of my IT coursework.

i need to "connect" or "link" two workbooks together, but i cant figure out how, if i try to type the code in one of the books to link to the other it does nothing.

i.e.
Quote:
index([Final Spreadsheet (Version 5)]AS 2006-07!.....
it says the "[Final" bit is an invalid name :S

what am i doing wrong? can anyone help?

That's the file name, so does it match the name of the workbook you're trying to link to?

I'm not all that familiar with the INDEX function, but realized after playing with it a bit it's just like the references you get when clicking around adding cells to formulas or whatever from wherever including separate workbooks.

yeah, thats the file name, worksheet and it will have the cell reference that i want to link to. but it wont work :S

i have one that was given to me, theres 2 workbooks, they both link together when they work, so i dont know whhy mine wont, unless i need to set something up :S

EDIT: Dont worry, i got it, im not sure how but i got it !! WOO
