Do I have to add more RAM to play BF2 on highest (except AA) settings, without pauses? My PC spec is in the sig. It runs fairly smooth but when I go to unexplored places, there will be a pause. According to Windows Task Manager, the peak for Commit Charge is: 1422640 KB (1.35 GB) after playing BF2 on highest settings. Again, do I have to put on some more RAM to play BF2 without pauses?

I Think that your ram is sufficent.
your problem most likely lies with the graphics card. which, although is better than the games in recommended system requirements, it still not that good a graphics card. Also your processor isnt that fast, so I would consider upgrading that if you were into your gaming. |

As kesava8, don't expect much out of that system. CPU, GPU, RAM Speed, lack of RAM(too much swap file use)...they all could contribute to the problem

Your ram isn't holding you back, I have 1 gig of ram and it runs Bf2 fine. Your graphics card, however, is holding you back. A better graphics card will yield much better performance gain than more ram.

As well as a better CPU. However, your graphics card is your biggest limiting factor atm.

I agree, the GPU and CPU are holding me back. But I think the CPU is too slow because even in lowest settings, it's still choppy! I can run Half-Life 2 at 1280x1024 (with highest settings except AA 0x, AF 4x) very smoothly. I think I'm going to get a >2GHzed Core 2 Duo.
Please.. don't say that again. I have Diskeeper (before I play I stop the Diskeeper engines for sure).

I just noticed that you have said that you might get a Core 2 Duo. If that is so then make sure the motherboard has an agp slot if you want to keep that graphics card. Even though i recomend a new pci-e card.
Also, seeing as your Ram is DDR, most new motherboards now take DDR2. SO make sure that it takes DDR if you are gonna keep using the ram. SO basically what im saying is that in order to upgrade, you will need a new motherboard, and if you get a new motherboard, some of your current parts might not fit it. Just making sure you are aware of that. |

CPU: LGA 775 that supports at least Core 2 Duo (maybe E6300) RAM: DDR (DDR2 sticks are expensive) PCI-E: PCI-E graphic cards are cheaper than AGP HD: SATA Form factor: ATX
