One review on the T43 is seen at http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2285 You will note that is speifies 512mb of DDR2 memory. Vista compatible? That has more to do with the recommended amount to meet the minimum requirements whether it is value or performance, DDR or DDR2 doesn't matter as far as the OS is concerned.

Before jumping one version you may want a look over at what each version has included or lacks compared to the other editions. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...ns/choose.mspx

The Basic only requires 512mb while the other versions will require 1gb of system memory. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...uirements.mspx

Its important to note that the Home Basic version lack the AERO GUI, and you can install ALL vista version in a system with 512MB ram, it just lags like hell.

Well I'm not going to toss 1.5gb of memory to find that out! Gee: If I grab another XP3200+ I can get the old case running again and that will still have 1gb there. I guess I'm stuck with the Home Premium.

You'll note that the other versions state 1gb or higher while the Basic lists 512mb. That's due to all of the prebiult systems that came out with 512mb as the better of two options. The lower price saw 256mb on too many. How often do you see office workers running systems with 2-4gb of ram installed? That's what MS was looking at there more then anything. Yet the Business version needs 1gb? "Time to upgrade companies!" MS shouts
