Exclamation Will adding different company ram not work on same motherboard?

I have 4 DIMM (240-pin, DDR2) (2x1024MB ram) Expandable to 8GB

I forgot the brand name for the ram.
My computer is this:
Hp Pavillion a1640n

My question is adding different manufactures of ram affect speed or will damage my motherboard?

It shouldn't. As long as you don't mix single and double sided you wont have a problem, you might not have problems even if you do mix them. The RAM will run at the slowest speed of all the RAM installed.

Some RAM only has chips on one side while others have chips on both sides. You can guess which is which
