Question Is it a wise move?

I'll be building a new computer soon and I was wondering if the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 is a good aboard at £70.

Is there better for the same price or could I save a bit of money and get another good one for less?

Thanks for any help!

That motherboard will ensure you reach your OC max, the other boards seem to have mixed results. It has many features and up to date drivers and is one of the more popular boards out now. The only limitations you will reach as far as overclocking will be because of other hardware limitations. I am glad I purchased mine, although not exactly the same it should yield similar if not the same results.

I don't know if I'll be OC'ing right away as it voids the warranty, I want to make sure it works fisrst, you know

Yeah, It does read up as a very good board, I was just wondering if there were any similair ones at the same price or just as good ones cheaper?

Hi Kornowski, I think I've recommended this MOBO to you before it's the
Abit Fatality FP-IN9-SLi
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(16724)...rd-LGA775.aspx

I've got his MOBO myself and over all I think its quite good, I managed to overlock my e6300 to 2.5Ghz stable without increasing the voltage.

Howver I think the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 is better and cheaper, I wish I'd gone for that board now. But as you haven't bought a MOBO yet the Abit Fatality FP-IN9-SLi is always another option.

The S3 is a great motherboard for overclocking, but other boards such as the 650i LT and 680i also offer very good overclocking potential, but also have alot more features, such as full SLI, extra expansion slots, and overall is just better, but then again, they cost alot more.

That board is a nice one. As previously stated, it is a very nice overclocker. The Abit Fatality FP-IN9-SLi board that Salman recommended is nice, but it only have 2 PCI slots and 4 SATA connectors. Overall, they are both nice boards, but I would definitely go with the Gigabyte. It's a better board and it's cheaper.
