Default Strange.. Online apps don't play sound.

I have all of my sounds on, with nothing on mute. I can listen to anything outside of mozilla. Just like youtube and myspace things don't play sound. I haven't changed any settings recently. I don't use a firewall or antivirus on any sort, I know how to protect my self and take care of those people who try ; )

But what could the problem be?

Try reinstall Firefox and try some other browsers seeing if the sound works with them.

I installed IE7 *shiver* and it still doesn't produce sound.

This doesn't make any sense. I mean I am listening to music right now and non of my volume controls are on mute or all the way down... Hmm..

Does it happen with all file formats? You stated MySpace and YouTube, both of which use Flash I believe. You could try uninstalling the Flash plugin and reinstalling it.

I don't understand, I have done that, and I have installed internet explorer to see if it worked on there.

The flash stuff works (like youtube videos play etc) its just that I don't get sound from them. I can get sound from everything else though...

Thanks a lot I would marry you but thats weired.

This is the problem I had. I already had k-lite (I have had it for about a year now) and one of my codec's apparently got messed up or something, so anyone who is having problems with this goto.

This is the one that worked for me : )

Possible Cause: Missing Codec
Solution #2: Download and install the K-Lite Codec pack. Again, google it. A CODEC stands for COmpressor DECompressor and is a way to make audio and video files small enough to be transferred on the internet. There are a lot of different codecs and if you want to play back a video that was compressed using a particular codec, you will need that same corresponding codec to decompress your media source and view its content. Basically if you dont have a codec, you cant observe the content of the media. If you have a VCR and want to play back a DVD, you are out of luck unless you get a DVD Player. DivX and XVid Codecs are some of the very popular codecs used on the net, but to get those, I still suggest getting the K-Lite Codec Pack.
