Question windows xp pro

I have been given xp and went to load this on my 2nd computer, so we can net work the to systems. we would like to play games for the first time together. My mate has stuffed up the product code and it will not work. He has gone away this weekend and I can't call him. Is there away of getting the code off the disc?? or is the a net way of doing this??

Nope, you can't get it from the cd itself. Sorry, but you'll either have to wait for your friend or call Microsoft and get a new license key.

Hm, however, I am not sure - maybe you can install it without a code (just leave the field blank) and then have 30 days to try windows out before you are required to enter a code. I know it works that way with Vista, but I can't remember if that works with XP as well. Maybe someone else here know for sure.

Just install it and it will run for 30 days like PC Hobbyist said before it will need activating...by this time your mate should be off holiday right so you can just activate it when he gives you the code

Hmm.. I think that will not work. As far as i know, it requires the CD-Key to continue installation (no 30-Day trial like Vista).

yeah, that's the feeling I had too, but I am not 100% sure.
