Default Computer wont recognize Ipod

Just like the title says. Anyone have any advice on what to do to make it recognize it so I can modify it?

I did that. I then plugged it in and it just says do not disconnect on the screen. I then ejected it and the screen never changed although I still unplugged it since in Itunes it says its ok to remove.

What else could it be? Is this thing junk now? I need to get this fixed so I can sell it, I have a Zune on its way.

Ok I fixed it. I just had to update Itunes then I was able to update the Ipod to the latest version. It was on the old version because I reformatted it since Im selling it.

I cant wait for my Zune to get here.
