Default modems need help!!!!!!1

hi all im new to the forum just like to say hi looks like some good work has gone on here...

this might sound like a stupid question but are all modems just modems ..i mean ive got a pipex 8mb broadband connection with a really crap modem. i use to be on bt i still have the modem from the bt connection would it work for my pipex connection.. thanks in advance peeps

It should work, they're both ADSL connections. (I assume it's broadband)

yeah it's broadband 8mb with a speedtouch 330 modem
the one im trying to install is a bt voyager 220v adsl voice router. it tells me its connected but when i try to open IE7 it dont let me view anything all drivers are installedand all devices are working properly any other help would be much appreciated
