Ok heres the story:
Since I upgraded 2 of my computers, I ended up with 2 extra MOBOS, 512mb worth of ram, a 8gig hardrive, a cd drive, floppy, and a geforce2mx card. Anyways, the first thing I did was used one mobo, called MS-6330 lite3, and put everything on it. I tried to boot, and nothing. At first, it kept restarting as soon as windows logo appears. Then, I booted up the windows cd, and ran it to setup xp again. Next problem is, it "fails" when copying files, so I had to skip 1 or 2 files. Finally, it booted up windows, and I thought everything was fine. Boy was I wrong. I tried to dl drivers, update windows, etc. But for some reason, the files come out corrupt, and windows update fails, but only SOMETIMES (it says "---INSERT UPDATE NAME---"...done!, "---INSERT UPDATE NAME---"....failed!). And finally, I dled again and again until it was time to update to service pack 2. By then, it would always error up, giving me that annoying "send/dont send" message. So what I tried to do is, redo the whole hardrive but with using my new system. Everything worked, everything booted....only problem was that all the drivers like ethernet drivers were not installed (had a yellow question mark on hardware list). I thought it had to do with the MOBO drivers or something, so I went on my laptop and dled the drivers, and transferred it to the 8gig hardrive I just setup. Now, I thought I had this all covered, and so I took the hardrive and moved it back to the old MOBO. Waited for it to boot, and wham, says DISK FAILED TO BOOT, PLEASE INSERT etc... I tried changing the IDE wires, and using channel 2, and finally, it starts to boot. However, it only goes up to the white dashed bars, and sort of just stay like that forever. I tried safe mode, and it gets stuck with all those file names... I doubt its hardware issues because I removed all the unnessary hardware, except the vid card, and hardrive (I know its not the hardrive problem because I can run it fine with my new system). I even took off the cd rom and floppy. Is there a possibility that my mobo is damaged? I even tried reseting the cmos/bios, and still nothing. Odd thing is that it doesnt boot when the drive is on the 1st IDE, but it does on the 2nd IDE (well, at least it doesnt say the "FAILED TO BOOT DISK..." message. Can anyone help?
