Default Unable to Install ANY programs in XP Pro

Greetings,
very unusual thing happening here!. running xp pro sp1 + 2, 1 gb ram, 300 sata hd, 4.0 ghz processor (oc'ed).

1.....i reformatted this computer 2 weeks ago and wiped the disc clean and reinstalled all my programs.

2.....i am attempting to install zone alarm pro and when i click on the executable, it says that i have to have admin rights to install!..hell, i AM the admin and the only user on, of, and for this computer!
3......i have done a complete virus ck and i come up clean....

....anyone have any idea as to what is the problem here?...thanks again!

Very strange... Try to make one more user with administrator status. Enter in that account and run setup. Are there any message?

...i shouldn't have to do that....as administrator and the only user of this computer, i should not have to create additional user accounts to install programs or to shift administration.....i have never run into a problem like this before

You can create account like mLAN said to check if the new account will have the same problems as your current one.

try running these programs to see if you have malware root kit revealer and hijack This. also do spyware and AV scans aswell as monitoring in and out traffic from the computer.
