Default Please help with connecting to internet!

Hi, I just reinstalled windows XP on my little brothers Compaq Presario 7594, yes it's very old ha. I have comcast internet, and 3 computers in the house are all connected. After I did the restore I realized all of the original CD's were lost for his computer. What I need to know is how to get the internet up and running because it wont let me create a connection, it is telling me, "Your broadband connection should already be configured and ready to use." Do I need to download the driver? I'm very confused and looking to learn, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! John

I just tryed that and the wizard said, "This wizard can not find your network hardware..." So I'm assuming I need to download the driver?? If so where can I get that driver from? Thanks!

Yep you need the driver for the NIC card. It sounds like an old laptop but you should be able to find the driver either on the Compaq site or just google the laptop model number and "ethernet card driver." You should be able to find something.

Good Luck!
