I'm sure this issue has a simple fix. I'm trying to get my PC to recognize my 100GB data HDD. I have (for now, until I can get the 100GB backed up fully), a 13.6GB boot disk and a DVD RW drive connected at PRI_IDE1. I'm sure that I can connect the 100GB HDD to PRI_RAID (ITE 8212F controller), but the HDD isn't being recognized. I have ensured that the BIOS has the controller set to IDE mode with standard detect mode, and I've tried the HDD jumperless (single or master) and jumpered as CS. Still no beans.
When I hit F8 at startup to choose the boot disk, the 100GB HDD is listed as a choice. Why is it not recognized when windows 2000 starts? Is this something that may be resolved by upgrading to XP? I plan on also doing that when I ditch the 13.6GB HDD in favor of a recently purchased 250GB SATA HDD. Also, in case it matters, I'm running 2GB of PC4200 RAM. Should I set the jumper to "master with slave" even though it's connected as a single drive? thanks for any ideas. Maurice |
