Default Prob a real NOOB Q about PING

Hi there,

I have just started to play BF2 online and think it is really good, however some days my PING seems to be really high.

I am currently with Orange and have 8meg Braodband, the system i run is fine and have plenty of RAM.
Why is my ping so high and is there any thig i can do?

Hope you can help
Cheers

Do you have any programs running in the background that may be using the internet or downloading off the internet?

It might also be a problem with your ISP, we pay for 10mb of Virgin Media, but in the evenings can get as low as 0.5mb and as high as 2.5mb. This may be due to the amount of people using it but we know there is something wrong with the central server in our area and are trying to get VM to fix it... hardest thing ever by the way

So there is really nothing that i can do to help it then?
I don't think it is the server im playing on as the last one i was on, my ping was really high... about 230 or some thing and every one else was on 30-20.
I only go on servers that are 16 players as i thought the more players would cause more lag.
Thats a reall bummer, love the game but if my ping is always poop then im screwed.

Yeah, more people will cause more lag, try going to a server with only 8 or something, or even better, and abandoned one and see if your lag gets any better...
