I just started using 'corel paint shop pro photo XI' and ive been messing around with it a bit today, and I gotta say... this program is Baaaaaaaaadass!!!
so many wicked features!

still i cant figure out how to do a few simple things:

1> how to draw a straight line from a to b?!?!?!
2> how to draw a smooth curved line like you can do in ms paint? (I mean not just using freehand paintbrush, but actually using that tool where you click two points, and then drag the line to skew it into a curve)
3> how to draw a 3D looking sphere, with 'sheen' on it (for want of a better word!)- I understand that this might require quite a few steps to draw

i figured out the first two by using the help topics in the program, but i still cant figure out how to draw a sphere, or make a circle appear to be spherical
