Default Hard Disk Not Detected HELP!

I have an Acer Aspire 5100 with windows xp on it. the other day i dropped a role of duct tape on the keyboard area and the computer restarted itself and then went to the command prompt screen and never got passed it. The blinking line just keeps blinking and it never gets passed it no matter what i change on the bot menu. I tried to boot from cd with my windows XP disk to do a clean install but when the blue screen comes for XP setup it says hard disk not detected. anyone know what could be the problem? Any help would be appriciated.

Either the cable connecting it may of come lose, or the hard drive might have broke. On the bottom of your laptop you should see a little symbol that looks like this
if you loosen the screw near that symbol the harddrive cover should pop up, make sure the HDD is secured in place, and cables are connected.

if u r working i desktop den it must b the problem of lose connection or may be ur ide cable not working or else go to cmos setup and see whether boot devices are activated or not if not den check jumpers.finally if nothing happen then try to go to cmos setup and go to the advanced bios setup and go to the option user safe default.it will set ur computer devices i default way.and if u r working in laptop den it must be a problem of lose contact or hard-disk,finally connect it to a desktop and check whether its ok or not
