Default faulty hdd

hi
i was wondering if anyone can help , last week i had a faulty motherboard which i have replaced but i my hard secondary drive wont pick up , it doesnt seem to run and the computer or windows doesnt seem to detect it , is there any sort of software or self booting software that i can use to recover tha data as theres about 6 months of work on there and i really need it recovered
is it possible anyway atall to recover this data

if it isnt spnning then the motors gone out. rap it sharply and see if anything happens, sometimes the lubricant in the motor sticks and te motor wont spin. unless you give it to a hdd recovery place... probably not
