Default Laptop or MacBook

Im in the middle of getting a dell laptop or a macbook and i REALLY need help.

Im after spec around:
Core 2 duo 2.0GHZ
2GB RAM
120GB HDD

I want a laptop that is big enough to use comfatably, but also nice and easy to move around with me, which is why im looking at the macbook rather than the macbook pro as a 12-13" widescreen seems a nice size.

I will be using the laptop for General entertainment use (not games) and for univirsity work.

What would you recommend? Help!

I would take the Macbook, but you'll have to include the price of Windows XP if you don't already have a copy but you want to use windows. Try looking at the Apple refurb section, they update every few days. You'll be looking at around $800 for the base configuration.

I have seen OEM copies of XP sell for like 80 dollars, I would say that is a minimal cost.

I think if not a macbook ( I would not personally) then Lenovo or HP offer the PC you want for the price.

MacBook, definetely. My brother owns one to pretty much that exact spec and I must admit, it is very, very nice.

The only cause for concern is that you need to have clean hands! My brother does clean his hands often, but when you rest your wrists on the MacBook, dirt will collect. It will be un-noticable but now you can see distinct yellow-ish areas on the face of the MacBook (below trackpad etc) - I'll try and get a picture for you.

Don't let this put you off getting a MacBook though, they are probably one of the best laptops I've ever used, in conjunction with my other brother's HP Pavilion DV6000 (you have to love it - sexiest laptop I've ever seen, bar the MacBook of course; and it runs smoooooth on Vista heh!)

yeah the black one is much better.

The white ones that our teachers have look auwful after a few months of long use. the touchpads and wrist/forarm rests are brown. I would reccomend the black one simply because it will cancel out this efect to some extrent

I would get the macbook. The only thing I would suggest is to get it in black because the white ones get dirty VERY fast.

My co-worker has the white macbook and I had a white ibook previous generation. They are fine if you keep them clean. The problem is, most people are savages and don't wash their hands, or wipe down their laptop. Instead of cleaning it, you are saying get a black mac book which just hides the dirt.

Just buy some laptop wipes and keep it clean, I mean you should take good care of your equipment anyways.
