Default Broken pin

I have a laptop hard drive with a broken pin. I tried the things mentioned in broken pin threads. No luck. Any other suggestions?
Also how do I tell what this pin is for? I obiviously need it.

There's what the pins do... There are a few grounds, but most are used :-/ Still, it would be worth trying again even missing a pin... I know with processors many times people loose pins and it works fine.

Thanks for the link. It is pin dd4. I'm still not sure what it does. Do you think this pin is the reason I can't access the hard drive? I'm starting to wonder if there is something else. I know the hard drive works.
