Lightbulb Desktop Project

I'm turning my 4 year old Dell Dimension 4600 desktop into a TIVO-like recorder. What I was think adding a TV Tuner, a 2nd 320 GB Hard Drive, (I have a 40 GB already in my desktop). I was also thinking of partitioning my 40 GB Hard Drive and giving Windows only about 10 GB of space and install Linux on the other partition and downloading Myth TV (for the TV recording software) on Linux, good idea? I also need help in finding good prices for the TV Tuner and 2nd Hard Drive. Also does anybody know how make a IR receiver and will any Universal remote work on a home make IR receiver or a good TV Tuner with a remote that I can buy? Please add comments on things I should or shouldn't do or if I need change any of my ideas on things, like is a 320 GB 2nd hard drive big enough for what I want it to do?, or anything else anybody can think of. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it .
