Talking Oops...different startup

alright... i was messing around with trying to add a network printer last night and i went into the local area connection properties and saw something about file and printer sharing... i pressed install and it came up with 3 option: client, service and protocol.

not knowing which was the correct one, i installed all of them, and im pretty sure this is what caused my problem...

anyway what happens is when I start up windows, instead of showing the normal logon screen with the users, it shows a box with my username and asks for a password. (i can click ok without putting in a password)
The box comes up when i am shutting down as well saying...logging off...shutting down...etc

It is very much like the way I connect to the server at school...

please, if anyone knows how to fix it?

and have i supplied enough information?

oh and i am running windows xp professional with sp2.
