When Winzip 10 was reinstalled here it would revert to the evaluation version even after paying for the download. When I find that on cd.... Otherwise we are both in the same boat looking for something without a time limit. 7-ZIP looked encouraging at http://www.snapfiles.com/get/7zip.html It supports zip files and compresses it's own as well as rar and other types.

The 7-ZIP tool opens upto a main window where you simply choose open from the "File" option on the menu. Once you find the file it has the extract as well as copy option available as seen in the image here. http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/3251/7zipev3.jpg

This one allows you to run programs from inside as well as from outside of the zip or archive. It also has a file tester as well as a benchmark tool. The two windows there are for illustration only. Once you choose a file everything stays inside the one main window.
