Angry computer goes off..

I dont know a huge amount about computers so excuse me for the lack of info on this.

I got a tiny computer about 2/3 years ago, ever since I got it it has turned itself off. This might not actually be what happens but the screen goes blank(says no input) music sometimes carries on playing untill the end of a song etc but not always, and the cooling fan stays on but there's nothing i can do and i have to turn the computer off at the power supply at the back then turn it back on.

does anyone have any idea what is wrong with it and what i can do about it?

thanks

rob

It's been doing it ever since you got it? Why didn't you take it back when it was in it's warranty?

they basically said there's nothing wrong with it and that it must be one of my components such as my monitor causing the problem, they went bust pretty soon after that and i had problems getting anywhere with the support centre after that, they told me to try using the backup disk to completely wipe and re-install everything but that had no affect whatsoever, it cant really be the monitor etc because everything i have now is new since then... if its any more help to anyone its a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4ghz processor, 512 MB RAM, i have XP with SP2, nvidia gforce FX5200 graphics card..

hmm i doubt its the monitor as this is a brand new one ive just got last week and ive tried several others and exacly the same thing happens.perfectly possible that the video card is overheating but it happens sometimes almost as soon as the computer has booted up so i cant see that being the case?

Ive been told that some companies such as tiny have problems with the software they give out free on their computers, could this be the case, if so would me putting a new windows XP on the comp and downloading all new drivers help?

just an update, just tried to play a game n the comp did it again so i thought id check stuff out, my modem was still fine, both the usb and ADSL lights stayed on, the computer didnt once try to access the hard drive, the cooling fan/fans stayed on and i couldnt turn the computer off with the normal on/off button at the front i had to cut it off at the power supply at back of comp. dont know if this info makes any difference at all but I hope so because its really annoying as Im sure you can imagine....

Yeh id say its most probably the power supply or a heat issue
