Default Fixing Fonts?

I have a laptop with Windows xp pro, i was having issues with the hard drive and disk drive and finally got those sorted out with gateway (its still under warranty) so now my hardrive works and my disk drive works. for a while i didn't have office installed, but i finally got around to doing it, and i had a bunch of extra fonts i had saved from before the hard drive died on a CD and i just copied and pasted them into the windows font folder. well, now when i go into Word, and use the little drop-down menue to select a font, most of my fonts don't show up. there's blank spaces left where they should be, but i can't see them.

the strange part is, its all my add-in fonts that show up, and most of the standard ones that aren't showing up. also, if i go up to Format/font they all show up fine and work and change in the document.

start>control panpel>fonts> see how many you have in there, should be a lot. as for fixing it, im not sure. you can dowload fonts you want and install them by clicking file install from the fonts folder window.

as i said, if i go to Format/Fonts in word, all my normal fonts show up. also, i tried downloading the fonts that i'm "missing" thinking perhaps something is corrupted, i deleted the old font, and installed the new one, and it still doesn't show up. in the drop-down menue, which is what i use to choose my font most often.
