maybe you need to check your drivers, if they are installed correctly.

listen...
what i advice u to do is to disconnect all your USB devices and try to boot your computer. i bet you will c a big improvement, then connect 1 by 1 and c what gives you the truble and then reinstall its drivers

searching on google its either a virus, bad file or bad boot.ini.

if it is the boot.ini do this: get to a dos prompt and run "fdisk /mbr" and it will re-write the boot.ini file for you

if it is a bad file replace ntoskrnl.exe in the directory - either find a copy off the net and replace, or use system file checker in dos, i think its sfc /w

if it is a virus, use system restore, or scan the file itself and check.

Could it be he should mess with something in his BIOS? My Bios has an option for "quick boot" or something like that. Maybe try that too.
