sound cracking up

hi guys i need your help when i open itunes to play my music it sort of stops and starts everytime and crackling up really bad.i think its because my built in sound is going, i may have to buy a decent sound card mite i??? HELP PLEASE?!?!

Well...is this online music or is it music already on your HDD/CD?

If it is the onboard sound going i would pick up a decent PCI sound card (Everyone likes the Audigy series). Really though Audigy isn't the absolute best, so just get what you can afford. My onboard sound is actually better than my 5.1 PCI sound card, so i use onboard.

you know im getting a 7.1 sound card you dont need 7.1 speakers do you or can i use my 2.1 speakers on it im sure i can but i just on to make sure?

its backwards compatible, it will work with anything under 7.1 speakers.

of course the 2.1 speakers will work, just dont expect 7.1 sound.
