Default Audio issue? Help greatly appreciated

Once a week I have an issue with my computer. It'll say iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration, Audio/Video playback may not work properly. And audio stops working period until i restart my computer. What can I do to fix this?

Which computer does this? What sound card do you use? Do you leave your machines on?
