Welcome to Computer Forum! Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox (or something else).

First, stop using internet explorer. It seriously had many security holes and such. Firefox typically works better, faster, and is more secure.
As for your problem, seeing as you were running IE, you probably have spyware. On top of that, computers typically slow down as you load more stuff on them. You probably have a good number of processes running in the background. If you have a virus scan, run it. If not, get AVG Free Edition or Avast. Also get Adaware and Spybot Search and Destory to check for spyware. Then get HiJackThis, get the log, and post it here. Each of these is very easy to find using google.

Just hit up google.com and search firefox download or something to that extent, you should find it there. I personally use IE..haven't had any slow downs whatso ever, nor spyware. But I do daily Adaware and Spybot S&D scans and a weekly CCleaner scan. I just didn't like firefox at all..so I don't use it
