Question Adobe Dreamweaver

Has anyone ever used this program before? I will be using it in a course I'm taking, and I'm wondering if you could tell me if it's easy to use, and how it works. Thanks

I have Dreamweaver MX, a version or two before Adobe purchased Macromedia. I really like it. Overall I find it very easy to use, and it puts less crap in the code than say Front Page or saving documents in HTML through word. There is also an option for split screen where your code is on top and the final layout is on the bottom. This is great if you know the code so you can add stuff in then get a preview of what was just added. Other programs may do this... I know there was some freeware app that did something similar, but over-all, I found Dreamwever much easier to use...

One thing though... I know a great deal of HTML, javascript, and CSS. If you're a beginner, Dreamweaver might not be the best option. Though it does automate the process a good amount, it's still probably not the best program to use to completely generate your site.

I am a beginner, but I think that I will learn what I need to know from the web design course Il will be using Dream weaver for. I only know basic HTML, and have been making sample web pages on notepad.
Thanks again

Unfortunately, actually knowing how to code HTML / Java is a dying skill with all the GUI web designing software easily available (but of course it's always good to know.) Dreamweaver MX is AWESOME, especially the very Adobe Photoshopish LAYER tools, making assembling a complex website pretty easy.

However, The_Other_One is right, Dreamweaver shouldn't be the ONLY tool you have in your arsenal to create web pages. It is one of the best though.

Real webmasters use tables..

oh and if you want to be good, learn PHP and Javascript, STAY AWAY from ASP and use JS instead of flash where applicable. And yes, DW is very good and rather easy to use software for creating the GUI. I also use it for scripting, as it highlights code nicely.
