Exclamation Global Health Alert!

When someone was discovered to have a non treatable new form of TB or known as Tuberculosis he refused to avoid taking a flight from the U.S. to Paris. He was later put into isolation until he is determined to be non contagious. The news report at the link outlines the search now underway by U.S., Canadien, and other countries for anyone that may have had contact while inflight or on the ground with him. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=3223647

There is something else going around like that right now and is very notorious in the Texas School systems. My little brother lives down there, it is not Tuberculosis, it is a basic sore throat and there is no treatment for it now.

The report seen there is on a new variation of TB with no current treatments available. Who they are looking for now is anyone that was in the immediate vacinity since closer contact is needed for exposure. This isn't like a flu where you get it from being in the same school or building.

If you were sitting next to the persion on an aircraft or took cab fare or waited on a table in a restaurant you would more likely to be exposed there as well as inline at an airport. This doesn't effect just one country since he flew to France and traveled some before being isolated. At this time they are looking for those exposed to prevent any further spread.

Where from? The person they isolated in Atlanta, Geogia apparently flew from there to another point in Canada to catch an overseas flight there or later came back into the U.S. by first taking a flight into a Canadien airport. The concern is on how many were exposed since large bellied commercial flights seat hundreds and there's no methods for quick and easy detection according to one medical source quoted there.

You won't to worry now unless running into someone that did actually get exposed to him during his travels. That's the one thing to note from all this. Currently he is being kept in a total isolation ward until he is deemed to be non contagious. Those if any that got infected are the ones that could pass it along if and when they also become contagious.

FOLLOWUP: A followup report shows that the infected person was a groom. The 4 page followup is seen at http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory?id=3224668

bump

Man with TB give interview! A short video clip can be seen at http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/sto...3231184&page=1 Apparently he knew he was contagious and still traveled? The interview may help clear things up there.
