Exclamation Vista hangs when Firefox or Internet Explorer starts

For some reason Vista is hanging when I start either IE or Firefox, otherwise, everything else works. Everything had been working fine untill I installed several drivers (new ACPI driver, sound card drivers, chipset drivers). Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening, it is extremely irritating, especially since i had to bust out my old laptop just to write this message and check the yankees score...
Thanks in advance...

It sounds like one of the softwares or drivers has another process trying to connect online to stall both IE 7 and FF alike. You may end having a need to refresh your ISP connection by setting that up again. The first thing to do however is go through the processes section of the task manager to see what is running.

You may have to use the msconfig to disable something or remove a problem by uninstalling something. Your ISP connection probably was knocked when going through the installation of different driver sets if you are unable to get on with either browser. Try a fresh setup there to see if that corrects this.

You were absolutely right. Creative's Media Source program must have been conflicting with it because when I stopped all of the four creative processes, i was able to get online.
Thanks for the tip
Have a good night

That one is notorious alright. Try using the custom install option the next time you go to install the Creative software. Leave that one disabled in the msconfig and you should be all set.
