Most of the media players have either Windows or Apple in mind there. Linux is based on a platform seen long before all the media players and usb devices/ports came into being a typical PC item. XP/SP2 or higher if not just XP/SP2 being seen there.
Some things will not run in Vista requiring an updated version of the software. The same applies to players like Cyberlink's PowerDVD as well. The one thing that always seems to prevail when any new version of Windows comes out however is what? PC games! I run a few old 98-XP compatible games on Vista too. For all the other retail programs you buy?
