This is my first attempt at building a desktop computer. I've ordered all my components and am waiting for my MOBO, CPU, RAM, and video card to arrive. I wanted to test the PSU, so I plugged it into a few devices (hard drive, DVD drive, etc.) and turned it on. Nothing. No noise. No fan movement. No power to the devices. Nothing.
This may be a really stupid question, but is this a pretty good sign that the PSU is DOA? It seems fairly likely to me, but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something obvious since I haven't really had any experience with PSUs before. Thanks. |

Too Good to be true, did you even connect your motherboard to the Chassis?

Seems to me that according to this it should work without being connected to a MOBO. But what do I know. I'm just a newbie!

If you're going to do that, you need to short circuit the green wire on the 24pin ATX main connector with any black wire (use a paperclip or similar). Without that circuit, it won't turn on.
