Default from A64 to X2: Ok w/ Same Cooling?

thats my question...

i'm planning to upgrade from athlon 64 3000+ to an X2 3800+
This is socket 939

I was wondering if i could use the 3000+ hsf on the X2... with probably arctic silver 5

any help is appreciated. thanks.

Yup, the fan should be the same for both the A64 and A64 X2's.

If you can afford an after market heatsink/fan, then go for it, if no then it should be fine, the only problem is that you might need thermal grease ( in case you've already spent it before)

i'm just gonna use the same hsf to save money. I'll invest into some AS5. the only thing i'm worried about is taking the hsf OFF the 3000+. Never actualy done it before. hope i won't break anything.
