Question DVD Sound Playback

I recently purchased a video card powerful enough to play back DVD's on my pc. The only problem when I play them back I have no sound. Is this because I need to hook up the audio cable from my dvd player to the sound card. I wouldn't think so because you don't need it to play back a cd but i could be wrong.

What software, operating system and dvd player do you have?

In answer to your question so long as the dvd-rom drive is installed correctly (I assume it's an internal one) no other "hooking up" should be required.
