Default PDA......HP or Dell

I have approximately £250 to spend on a PDA, and I have been looking at either the 520MHz X51 from Dell, or the HP Ipaq HX2490. Spec wise they seem to be exactly the same, same software, processor speed, features etc, and the reviews on the net are all very similar. But seem to get around 6 stars out of 10 from customers, but 7-8 stars from the website editors. Also, people either seem to love or hate both. The reviews are either 9/10 stars saying they’re top top, or 1/2 stars saying they’re useless, so that hasn’t really helped either.

So, can anyone recommend the best option for me?

Cheers

Last summer I worked at a hospital on this huge PDA project, part of which was deciding which PDA to use. We had two HPs(one older Phone/PDA model, one newer) and then two Dell's(x51 and x51v). Over all, I think I liked the HP best WHEN IT WORKED. You see, it had some quirks, and eventually wouldn't fully load after a soft or hard reset. It was very difficult if not impossible to do a full factory restore.

I'm not saying the Dell's were perfect either, but over-all they did work better. I now have the x51(it was given to me for helping with the project) and it's been a fine little device. The only problem I've had is for some reason it likes to power itself up at 12am. The screen won't show, but the wifi light blinks and you hear it making "wireless network found" chimes...

Im planning on going into a local store and trying out the HP, but the only local place is Dixons (im in the UK), and their returns/policy service isn't very good. On the other hand, if the Dell packs up i have to send it back to them by post.

I've heard of problems with the HP, but apparently they have updates on their site that solves alot of the problems on the device.

Hmm, difficult decision.
