Default Looking to buy first Laptop, kinda computer challenged

I'm trying to find the best laptop I can get for around 700 bucks. I don't really favor one brand or the other, but I was looking at these two:

I don't really know much at all about what goes into a laptop, but question I had about them though is one has a 1.8 dual core processor and one is just a 2.6 processor, and I wondered what is better. But if anyone knows a better deal I can get besides those two, I sure would appreciate it .

I would go with the second one cause it is a dual core. But I really dont like gateways I think you should look into the dell or hp laptops they are usually better(IMO) than gateway.

Ok so I've got it narrowed, can someone tell me which laptop is better between these two?

I really like the 2 gigs of RAM in the 2nd one, but I like the CPU in the first one more, and there's probably other things I have no idea about that are better in the first one just because it has a bigger price tag lol.

You can always upgrade the RAM later. It's pretty easy to do. Go for the one with the faster processor.
