Yes you can run Ubuntu as a Live CD. Just make sure you download the image file that contains the Live CD as well as the install . Then when you pop the CD into your CD-Drive, follow the instructions given upon boot to load the Live CD.

Well unfortunately wireless is still something I have no familiarity with. It picks up my wired ethernet connection to my router immediately without me having to customise a thing. I'm sure it also caters for wireless although don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure. Best bet would be to try it and find out. It won't harm anything in seeing as you will be booting from CD won't you .

It's definitely worth giving their support forums a quick browse / search for wireless help as I'm sure this has cropped up a million times before on there and the best place to get advice / help on this would be straight from the horses mouth.

Well .iso files don't have to be burnt through Nero. Most other burning applications should account for .iso burning also (alcohol 120% etc etc). Just browse around your burner software menu and look for the option to 'Burn Image File'. The only reason most people suggest Nero is because it's one of the most used pieces of software for burning anything onto CD / DVD and because it's fairly easy to use. But yes, I can't recall whether or not Sonic has the image file burning facility. If not, then you know what will be recommended.

Remember, with the Live CD, you cant install anything, you cant install drivers, etc. And it is really slow since it has to load everthing from the CD. Just so you know.
