File transfer: Maco to Pc and back to Mac

I already posted in the general internet forum, but this might be a better fit

I need to receive and send a large amount of files using an instant messaging program. The other person has Ichat and I have trillian and AIM 5.9. With trillian i wasn't able to receive or send. With 5.9 I could receive an archived folder but could not send a folder, archived or not. Would AIM 6 be able to file transfer better with Ichat, or are they any other better programs. I really want to avoid having the mac user change programs, too bad theres no Ichat for windows.
