Default ATA133 in an ATA100 slot

Hi!

If I run an ATA133 drive from an ATA100 slot, will it be faster than an ATA100 drive would be? (I realize it won't be as fast as it would be if the drive and the port were both ATA133).

Basically I have an ATA100 port and am trying to see if it's better to get an ATA133 drive. I need it for high-end music applications, so it needs to be as fast as possible.

Any info would be great, thanks!

no it can't go faster than ata100, but you'll find very few HDDs will transfer at a rate that needs the extra bandwidth
