Default ati x1550 and a widescreen monitor

Hey guys and gals,
Just a quick question, i plan to buy a 19-20" widescreen monitor I just wanted to make sure you didnt need anything "special" to use one. I'm assuming it should be just like any other monitor etc. just wanted to double check cause i read statements thay say "if your video card can enable widescreen" which confuses me slightly as i have no idea what that means.

*The goal is a 19' ws running 1280 x 1024 resolution. any/all reccomendations are welcome

thanks a million!

You DO NOT want to run a widescreen monitor at a resolution of 1280x1024, it will look extremely distorted.

But as for running a widescreen monitor at 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions, it will be fine. I used my x1400 in my laptop for both 1440x900 and 1680x1050.

Ok sounds good i m just not 100% what the max resolution of my video card is since its not very good. The goal was a bigger screen and a better resolution.
