I'm running WINXP and I have looked into the drivers and everything. The firmware it came with does nothing it just loops like this "upgrade now>>download>>upgrade failed>>reboot>>and repeat"
I assume the PC recognizes the drive considering that the programs I use for it list it on the available drives for burning. I mean the drive even spins the DVD's I put in. Thanks in advance for the help. |

CD/DVD drives do not require drivers. Try to boot to an XP CD using the drive. If it works, it's a software problem with Windows. If it doesn't, you probably have a bad drive. Just because it spins up doesn't mean it's still working.
