Lost my serial for Windows XP Professional!

Hey guys, i have lost my Windows XP Professional Serial (or to be precize my father threw it away) and now obviously need a new one to finish the installation. Now i dont feel like buying Windows again for $140! Anybody know where i can get a new serial legally? Or would one of those serials thats i can get from a generator cause me any trouble from Microsoft itself maybe?

Hey man

. Well there must be a way to legally obtain the serial again. I would try and call Microsoft. As far as I know there is a number unique to the CD printed on the CD. Maybe Microsoft will ask you for that and you may need to give it to them. The keygenerators are illegal and could cause you troubles with Microsoft, but more likely with support in the future or the installation of Service Packs. Certainly give Microsoft a call man.

Ok, i called Windows and they generated a new CD key using the code on the inside of the CD.....
