I dont know about the laptops, but I would go for the 8400 just for the DX10.

Dell hell, HP sucks... for me right now:

Dell rocks (cause the computer im typing on is great! its not overheating, its fast ect ect <insprion 1200>)

My HP laptop: When idle, the CPU is 70C, at load 85+C Video card: 112C idle, ??? C load

I'd go with the Geforce and the Dell

Go with the one with the x1600 because reviews show that the 8400m GS sucks and is the equivalent somewhere around the x1400. Why get something DX10 compatible when you can't play any of the new games that comes wit it because your graphics aren't up to par.

reasons you should buy the Hp
1. Dell sucks...alot
2. hp generally has better features than dell.
3. the HP's G-card supports DirectX 10, which is very good.
4. i have a dv9000, and it kicks butt.
