Default Vista WMP11 Problems!!!!

Hi.
I have been looking on forums and search engines for answers to my problems with media player 11 on vista but havnt had any luck.
ive also looked on microsofts website, again i had no luck.
so im hoping someone on here could help me??

First off.
When I go to rip a CD WMP11 wont update the album, artist and track information.
I can right click and do "find album information" which works, comes up with the screen listing all the tracks and if i wont to apply it or edit it. when i click apply again nothing happens.
I right click and do update cd information and nothing happens.
I have left the CD in for aleast an hour becuase i know wmp used to be a little slow on me, but yet again nothing happens.

second......
I fill in all the CD information myself (no biggy), i click rip and it saves the tracks on my laptop. the problem is it will not put these files into the libary after or during the rip.
i have tried to import them manualy but it will not import any tracks/albums into the libary.
the files are in C:/users/me/music
i have gone into the settings and have tried to monitor files and folders but it wont keep the settings after i click on ok.

what realy p*ss's me off about all of this is that i cant re-install (to do a repair) or unistall windows media player 11 becuase its part of vista! i cant even find the damn wmp11 installer on the vista cd!!

abit of history on this....
i was running xp media centre and got the free vista upgrade.
i have been having problems with wmp11 ever since i upgraded my windows to vista.
apart from this, i have had no problems with vista, major problems anyway.
formatting my HD and installing a clean version of vista is my last resort.

sorry for how long this is...
but if anyone can help me out on this i would be greatfull!
thanks!
