Default First time builder (gaming rig) memory recommendations please?

Hey all.. TGIF! (for those desk jockeys out there like me and any other weekend warriors lol)

So i'm filling up my egg cart at newegg looking to build my first ever PC, a gaming rig.

It will consist of:

- E6600 ( i may wait until July when price drops)
- 8800 GTS 640
- 36 or 74 gig 10k rpm Raptor sata
- a mb! lol (no idea which one - hardest decision yet)
- Antec 900 or P180
- a PSU (still undecided here)

and Memory!

I won't be overclocking or running SLI. I *may* overclock in the future, but i'm a simple, old school kinda guy. Most likely I will never overclock or run SLI.

With that said.. can my humble rig benefit from 6400 memory? Or is 6400 only for overclockers? Should I just get 3200 ?

Thanks in advance!

Well now I'm looking at a Gigabyte P35 mb and 1 supports both DDR3 and DDR2 and others support DDR2 1066 which seems cool.

Should I go for the DDR2 1066 memory and a P35 mb that will be able to support DDR3 and Quad Core in the future? (since I can't afford them now)

You can get whichever board you like, the P35C is fairly expensive right now though, as is DDR3 and quad cores (although you said you wont be getting those right now). If you do want to get it for the upgrade room be sure the added price of the board doesn't screw up your budget. As for what DDR2 to buy right now, DDR2-800 is fairly inexpensive right now and the price difference to DDR2-1066 (it's about double the price) makes it not worth it.
