CD burner cannot be enabled...help :(

My dad bought the ADS Tech "Instant Music" to rip LP's (records) to his computer. Everything went fine, and we got a successful recording of "Iko Iko." However, when we tried to burn it, WMP said that no burner was there. So we checked in the Device Manager and it showed the Memorex CD burner with an X, which I take as disabled. So I click Enable Device. It still was disabled D:

How do you fix this? Is it something simple I haven't thought of?

hardware conflict? faulty drive?

My dad swears that the drive worked fine before we started to try to use this thing...maybe it's the first one. But even when the thing is disconnected it still is disabled without the ability to be reenabled.
