Default I think it's time to take advantage of my warranty.

This laptop has been nothing but problems to me, as usual. The CD/DVD drive doesn't work, gives me a BSOD. The hard drive clicks at random times. It's still under warranty... but I don't know how much trouble it is to get Toshiba to service it? I heard something about a partnership they have with UPS or something and they repair Toshiba products rather than Toshiba, but I don't know where to go , and whether or not the memory stick stuck in the fri**ng memory card reader will void any warranties.

Comments?

I have a friend now asking about Vista Basic with 512mb of ram on a Toshiba model for $1100 after bailing out of a Dell with the same software for $2000! It sounds just like warrantt time with too many problems being seen. The search results for Toshiba service produced several links including a global site. You can look through the results seen here to see if you find something. http://infospace.abcnews.com/_1_2NE9U8K026NU6MK__info.abcnws.toolbar/search/web/toshiba%2Bservice

Yeah I've heard bad things about Toshiba's, that's why I didn't go with them.

That was the total "Dell Hell" price tag with all the preloaded softwares. With the problems being heard with Toshiba that bit of news will also be passed along. It's hard at times for the less knowledgable to pick out a good preloaded deal with the right stuff in it. 512mb of ram for Vista? I expressed some opinions on that fast and explained the Basic edition should be replaced with the Home Premium. But? the price was the thing looked at there.

The Encarta, Britanica, and whatever Dell was throwing in there saw the price tag go upto $2000! I suggested getting a model with at least a 1gb of ram not the 512mb seen for Vista Home Premium over the Basic that came with it. The Toshiba model was cheaper with the same version. I suggested getting a model without the large software package and only installing what was wanted there.

I bought mine from the Dell Canada website, and I chose only what I wanted. I still don't know how the hell a computer with Vista Basic and 512mb of ram ended up being $2000
