Default Anything to swap file types?

My mother's business has just purchased a new computer system and they're now running Office 2007, in the past they have been using MS works

Is there a program available that can convert their existing works files to operate correctly in Office 2007? The old file types are .wps for word processor, and .xlr for spreadsheets. They need changing to .docx and .xlsx respectively.

Any help appreciated.
