To avoid any problems with the present installation after seeing the boot information corrected unplug the smaller drive when going to try again with the 80gb. Try setting it up as a stand alone installation there. In other words run that as a single drive system to see to avoid any changes with the small drive and to see if the two drives are competing with each other like a resource/hardware conflict of some type.
